My Updated Quarantine Reading List
My Updated Quarantine Reading List
I’ve finished the books I originally started reading so it’s only right, I think to put up what I’m currently reading. As you’ll see in the list below I’ve started reading reading a lot of books based on shows and movies that I already liked, most of it is stuff that I’ve been meaning to read and just didn’t seem to have the time to do it. I used to avoid books like that but now I’m starting to realize how much I’ve been missing out on.
1) Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
I’ve read a couple of Dragonlance one off’s in the past, but I’ve never read THE Dragonlance novels. Mostly, because I was such a Drizzt fan that when it came to fantasy books for a longtime if it wasn’t set in the Forgotten Realms I probably wasn’t going to read it. That being said this book is amazing and I wished that I’d started reading it sooner. As of writing this I’m almost done with it and can’t wait to start reading the next series.
2) Star Wars Death Troopers by Joe Schreiber
My younger brother is a huge Star Wars fan and handed me this book recently and said three words that instantly intrigued me, “Star Wars zombies”. It’s something that I never thought would exist and while the book is way tamer than I like a zombie novel to be, it’s definitely worth reading so far. Hopefully, they do more with it in the future.
3) Star Trek: In the Name of Honor by Dayton Ward
I love Star Trek. I can’t say that enough, my two favorite species in the Star Trek universe are Klingons and Ferrangis. Someone should definitely write a book about both. This one follows Captain Kirk and the TNG crew as they navigate the dangerous intracacies of Klingon politics. I love this book, it shows an interesting point in both Starfleet and Klingon history but like I said I’m biased.
4) Star Wars: Han Solo and the Lost Legacy
This is a weird book that I’ve recently been chugging through, but it’s a lot of fun. It’s a Han Solo, Chewbacca pulp style adventure. No big universe ending plots, just two smugglers trying to break in and steal a bunch of lost treasure and not get killed along the way. What’s not to love?
5) Drachenfels by Kim Newman
Warhammer Fantasy is my second favorite fantasy universe behind Middle Earth. It’s grimy, dark, and sucked me in the first chance it got. The Black Library has been re-releasing a lot of their earlier books so I scooped this one up will it was on sale. I’m glad I did, it definitely isn’t the Warhammer universe that I’m used too but that being said I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s got vampires, sorcerers, mutants, and all the Warhammer horror a person could want all set around an epic stage play which none of the characters might survive to actually see finished.
6) Mathias Thulmann: Witch Hunters Series by C.L. Werner
I just finished the second book in this series and will probably be done with the third soon. This series has everything you could want out of a Warhammer story, vampires, Skaven, and Chaos everywhere you look.
